Established in 1790

Boorn Brook Farm started back in 1790 as a small farm house nestled between the Green Mountains and the Taconic Range, with Bourn Brook at its side. In the 1820's, the French-inspired barn was added. Today, the Farm House has been recently renovated and the historic Barn restored into a four season barn. The original craftsman detail in The Barn is evident the moment you walk in the Great Room.

Great parties and plays have been enjoyed in the Great Room of the Barn over the years. The prior owner who lived here for over 50 years, Marion Gould Pleissner, lived in the Plaza Hotel in NYC and would summer at Boorn Brook Farm. Friends from far and wide would assemble at Boorn Brook Farm for festivities and companionship.

In this Barn was where Ogden Pleissner, the famed WWII and avid sports hunting artist, had his painting studio at the conclusion of his career. Works of his art are in numerous public and private galleries including The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET) in NYC. An extensive collection of Pleissner's work is at the Shelburne Museum located in Burlington, Vermont in the Pleissner Gallery. From the Barn, you can see the same landscape Ogden captured in many of his paintings, as well as walk in his footsteps through his studio and the property.
